BeyondTrust is best known as a provider of identity access and management services, specializing in privilege delegation and authorization management solutions. The purchase of GentleSecurity continues its mission to become an ‘insider threat’ solutions provider, according to a company statement.
The deal also allows the firm to begin offering a DLP component to its PowerBroker Destktop product, which it says will “help customers monitor and control sensitive data critical to their business”.
“The acquisition of GentleSecurity and the launch of our PowerBroker Desktop DLP solution add a very important technology to our vision of securing the perimeter within”, noted John Mutch, BeyondTrust’s chief executive, in a press release statement. Mutch also welcomed GentleSecurity CEO Andrey Kolishchak to the BeyondTrust family, calling the PhD in information security a “valuable addition” and “a respected thought leader in the security industry”.
This makes three acquisitions for BeyondTrust in the last two months in what can best be described as a busy summer season for the firm. Back in May, BeyondTrust purchased data base security specialist Lumigent, in addition to the June acquisition of assets from Likewise Software.
In the latter deal, BeyondTrust bought Likewise Enterprise and Likewise Open technologies, rolling them into its new PowerBroker Identity Services, which aim to provide a secure cloud authentication solution, according to company statements.
BeyondTrust is a privately held company; therefore, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
