Cloud computing services to be sold via resellers

Carrenza claims its cloud computing platform allows businesses to replace their legacy physical servers with a dedicated pool of virtual machines, enabling them to take advantage of server resources and infrastructure – all managed by Carrenza – without having to invest in storage space and the servers themselves.

Carrenza plans to offer UK resellers technical and commercial support, in order to help them educate the market about the benefits and cost savings of its cloud technology.

The plan is for customers to pay a predictable, regular operational cost for the firm's dedicated cloud computing resources and flexible, manageable costs for `bursting' and additional services.

This, the company claims, will help customers lower the total cost of ownership and removes the headache of managing their own hardware.

Carrenza says it already has a network of high profile customers including Cineworld, Comic Relief, eBay and Paypal.

Nick Barron, the firm's channel partner manager, said that IT resellers are seeing revenues from hardware sales diminishing and need to work out what the next big recurring revenue opportunity is.

"The industry is quickly realising that hosted technology is the way forward, enabling businesses to reduce costs and increase their flexibility, yet resellers have yet to fully grasp the potential sales opportunity", he said.

Barron went on to say that the cloud computing offering is a service, so it effectively enables resellers to grow recurring revenue.

"We'll also provide all the technical and commercial support needed to make it a compelling customer proposition", he said.
