Open Rights Group (ORG) activists in Sheffield staged a highly successful protest in front of the city's rail station on Wednesday, with around 30 people gagging themselves with duct tape and handing out leaflets.
According to Richard King of ORG, the Sheffield 'gagged geeks' protest was very successful, with Paul Scriven, the Liberal Party leader of Sheffield City Council, in attendance.
"We had about 30 people (turn up for the protest) and the leader of Sheffield council, as well. We got rid of 300 leaflets in about 20 minutes. Lots of people went away scratching their heads, wondering what (the Digital Economy Bill) was all about", said King, adding that the event in Sheffield was a brilliant protest.
ORG, meanwhile, reports a highly successful staged protest in London on Wednesday, with around 300 activists in attendance outside Parliament.
The second reading of the Digital Economy Bill will take place on April 6.
