eSoft unveils SiteFilter 3.0 for OEMs

Colorado-based  eSoft says that SiteFilter 3.0 features one of the world's largest databases of categorized URLs, and offers a number of unique features, including a distributed intelligence architecture, plus real-time updates and categorizations.

Most important of all, however, Infosecurity notes, is the inclusion of web 2.0 security monitoring, and what eSoft calls zero-hour malicious URL protection.

Patrick Walsh, eSoft's chief technology officer, said that, with more that 70% of malware now being delivered by the web, and explosive amounts of offensive and inappropriate content, the web is now the core challenge facing internet solutions vendors today.

"SiteFilter 3.0 is the fastest and most effective solution to these problems in the industry and can be quickly integrated into a variety of server, desktop, and mobile applications", he explained.

In use, SiteFilter 3.0 uses a total of 144 possible categories – up from 53 in v2.0 – with new categories including kids' pages, personal storage and video streaming.

Walsh says that the new version of SiteFilter includes features and facilities targeted at specific markets, including mobile service providers, end-point security/antivirus vendors, and managed security service providers.

It also seems that v3.0 has been recoded, as its database lookup facility is billed as 5 to 10 microseconds per lookup, compared to the 10 to 20 microseconds seen in version 2.0.

The updates to upgrade to SiteFilter 3.0 are available immediately for existing OEM partners using the SiteFilter library or SiteFilter cloud solution.
