Hitachi ID Systems recently announced the general availability of its ID Management Suite, Version 8.2. The new version updates the Privileged Access Manager (HiPAM), Identity Manager (HiIM) and Password Manager (HiPM) products with improvements to scalability, availability, and usability, among other features.
New capabilities include graphical dashboards, a new mechanism for temporary assignment of membership in privileged security groups, integrated privileged access policy assignment for fixed and mobile assets, integration with social platforms, and CAPTCHA support in the login process.
"We have been working on 8.2 for some time and it reflects extensive customer feedback", said Idan Shoham, Hitachi ID's CTO. "Our main focus in this release was on supporting large scale HiPAM deployments. Our customers need to be able to add new servers quickly, for example after disasters such as Hurricane Sandy. They also want to support temporary privilege escalation as an alternative to password display or password injection."
In related news, Hitachi ID Systems announced it has closed a large enterprise-wide privileged identity management deal with one of Europe's leading telecom providers.
“We are very pleased to be selected for this large privileged identity management project”, said Gideon Shoham, the firm’s CEO. “This company had a unique set of requirements that Hitachi ID was able to quickly meet and exceed.”
Hitachi ID was invited to participate in the RFP process and ultimately was selected. The telecom company looked for effective audit compliance and session monitoring capabilities, as well as the ability to deliver privileged access controls as a service for their managed customers. Hitachi ID’s PAM solution will provide privileged identity management services to 20,000 employees and more than six million external users.
