Data loss prevention firm GeoLang has won the UK’s Most Innovative Small Cyber Security Company award at a tense competition final at Infosecurity Europe 2015 in London today.
All four finalists were called upon to prepare a three minute elevator pitch in front of the judges: C5 Capital managing partner, Nazo Moosa, and Elsevier CISO, David Cass.
GeoLang claims its flagship Ascema product has the edge on rival DLP products on the market as it can analyse unstructured as well as structured content, ensuring sensitive content can’t be duplicated or copied, even into other file types.
CEO Debbie Garside revealed during her presentation that the firm is aiming squarely at the SME market, claiming that smaller firms are under-served by the major security vendors whose DLP products are often out of their price range.
It seems she won over the judges despite a nervy performance thanks to an impressive list of current and prospective partners and customers, including Lockheed Martin, SharePoint, Gmail and Box.com.
Founded two years ago, GeoLang uses a unique fingerprinting algorithm developed at GCHQ and since then it's grown rapidly, gaining seven times its initial funding from venture capital investment.
