(ISC)² announced the formation of its global Application Security Advisory Board (ASAB) today, which brings in representatives from Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific regions. The board was created, according to the non-profit, to drum up “awareness about the problem of insecure software and help organizations infuse security into the software development cycle”.
The board includes 14 software development professionals from the private and public sectors, in addition to other non-profit organizations. Among those represented are: IBM, the IRS, Lockheed, Microsoft, UBS, SAIC, and OWASP.
The ASAB, which met for the first time on Nov. 19 in Orlando, will hold an annual in-person meeting, in addition to quarterly virtual sessions.
"Software vulnerabilities are one of the most pressing issues in security today with 80% of attacks occurring at the application layer, and we are confident this group of elite software and security professionals will bring valuable insights and ideas as to how we as a community can have an impact on this issue," said W. Hord Tipton, executive director of (ISC)², in a press release statement.
