McAfee targets small to medium-sized businesses with QuickStart service

McAfee is building the service as a set of discrete components that can be offered either individually, or as a set of bundles. A training service includes a year's access to McAfee's product and technology video training modules. Its HealthCheck service uses a computerized questionnaire to help SMBs assess their security readiness. It interprets security policy settings and compares them to a selected baseline, the company said.

These services are automated (presumably providing a high-margin revenue stream for McAfee). However, there is also an Experts-On-Demand service that makes consultants available to businesses remotely. They can help to implement, optimize and configure McAfee products. Sessions can be recorded and played back for future use, McAfee added.

McAfee says it will provide optional bundles containing these services, under the names Security Quickstart Pack for Endpoint Protection, the Security Quickstart Pack for Total Protection for Secure Business, and the Security Quickstart Combo Pack are now available.

The McAfee Combo pack provides HealthCheck, training and four hours of remote consulting. The Endpoint package includes the installation of McAfee ePO server and extensions, along with a database installation, configuration, and maintenance plan. The company says it will configure user and permission sets, handle Active Directory Imports, and import McAfee policy best practices and server automation tasks, among other activities.
