The system will manage the identity details of 40 000 users across the trusts and will be implemented by Salford Software at no licensing cost under an Enterprise Wide Agreement with NHS IT agency Connecting for Health.
It is hoped the system will allow the trusts to improve efficiency and reduce costs by automating staffing processes and improving security by restricting access to sensitive information such as patient data.
The system will make the trusts compliant with security directives issued by the government and highlighted by audit and information governance requirements. said Gus Hartley, programme lead at the North West Strategic Health Authority.
The solution has been designed to be scalable so that further trusts can be included later, providing a single identity repository across the region, said Salford Software.
