RSA: Splunk’s sales benefit from economic downturn

“Splunk is the most appropriate product to have in current times” said Christina F.R.L.Noren, VP product management. “Customers are spending money where they’ll see the most value, and that’s why Splunk is doing extremely well”.

Speaking to Infosecurity at the RSA conference in San Francisco, Joe Fitzpatrick, director of marketing communications for Spunk, explained that the Splunk software package “takes in all data on a system and makes everything searchable. The data that people are interested in from a security side of things is the same data that is needed for trouble-shooting. Splunk provides the chain of evidence that is crucial to digital forensics” Fitzpatrick continued.

Splunk’s product is even more desirable in the current economy “because time equals money” said Christina F.R.L.Noren. “The Splunk search engine finds results in minutes. Downtime is very costly”.

Noren, Fitzpatrick and Steve Sommer, VP marketing for Splunk, agreed that compliance is the driving force behind the market. “Out-of-the-box compliance is no longer acceptable” said Noren.

In Q1 2009, Splunk’s booking were up by 100%.

The Splunk Enterprise Security Suite (ESS), in partnership with IT consulting and services firm GlassHouse Technologies, is now available. http://www.splunk.com/view/SP-CAAADQB
