Symantec is Marmite, says Spamina

“The sheer size of Google Postini and Symantec is what gives us our opportunity. As a smaller company [Spamina has 75 employees] we can tailor our solution more precisely. We can be more aggressive with our pricing, and offer more flexibility to our customers in one single solution”, he said.

Dan Power, UK country manager at Spamina, and Tyer told Infosecurity that despite email security technology getting more savvy and more effective, the spammers’ sophistication is increasing at the same rate, creating an “endless cycle”.

Phishing, they insist, will continue to be a very big problem in 2011 and beyond. “Less sophisticated users now have computers”, Tyer explained. “They are falling for the increasingly creative phishing attacks. Some of which can fool even the savviest user”, he said.

Spamina, following its recent entrance into the UK market, has launched its first local channel campaign, the Spamina Action Partner Programme. This consists of an online management tool that allows resellers to create and manage new customer accounts.

Power told Infosecurity that the partner programme is “all about automating key parts of the process and making it easier and more efficient for resellers to build a profitable business”.

Spamina’s development plans for 2011 include a new email data loss prevention solution, in addition to an email archiving offering.
