Eleven UK cybersecurity start-ups will have the opportunity to be showcased in a new ‘UK Cyber Security Innovation Zone’ at Infosecurity Europe 2015, the organizer has announced.
The application process for this opportunity is now open, and the 11 selected companies will win a three-meter, furnished stand to exhibit in the innovation zone and compete for the title of most innovative small UK cybersecurity company of the year.
This competition involves a pitch event in London on 27 April, where the selected companies will present before a panel of industry judges and an industry audience. The three that come out on top will participate in a pitch-off event on June 4 on the main stage during Infosecurity Europe, with the winner crowed at the event.
The organizers are looking for businesses with innovative, disruptive technology or service offerings in everything from mobile security to SCADA systems and consultancy.
The initiative is supported by the Cyber Growth Partnership, in association with the government’s Department for Business, Innovation & Skills, and trade body techUK.
techUK’s director of tech for government, Gordon Morrison, said: “We’re looking forward to seeing creative solutions from some of the UK’s most innovative small businesses. The cyber industry is an important market for the UK, and we’re excited to be working with BIS and InfoSec to support its growth. This competition is a great opportunity for small businesses to get expert advice and meet with potential partners and customers at the exhibition.”
Now in its 20th year, Infosecurity Europe will be held 2-4 June at London’s Olympia. The event will also play host this year to a new technical research conference held concurrently, entitled Intelligent Defence, with content curated by an advisory council consisting of Eric Cole, Trey Ford, Rik Ferguson and Jack Daniel.
