Dan Ruef is the Technical Manager of the Products team in the CERT Division of the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute.
Dan leads the research and engineering efforts to build tools, highlighted by SiLK, YAF, and Mothra, that provide network situational awareness by sensing, storing, and analyzing traffic for threats. Dan has over 15 years of professional experience in cybersecurity and software engineering, and was the primary developer of Analysis Pipeline, a streaming flow analysis tool.
Dan holds a Master of Science in Information Security Technology and Management from Carnegie Mellon University, and Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from Case Western Reserve University.
