Sallie Newton is a U. S. Homeland Security 2022 Public-Private Analytic Exchange Program participant. She is utilizing her information security skillset to improve public and private relationships as a member of the Ransomware Research team. In her current role at Intel, Sallie is a product security researcher focused on the secure development lifecycle and product security incident response.
Prior to joining Intel in January 2021, Sallie served as the Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) Lead at SAS Institute. As a product security leader, she establishes baseline metrics that drive change resulting in reduced risks, increased security assurance, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Sallie holds several leading industry certifications including the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and the Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP). As a product security professional, Sallie prioritizes amplifying the value add that security-minded developers and technologists bring to the product development lifecycle. She has more than three decades of professional experience spanning compliance, business continuity, IT security program development, Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) program development, program management, as well as, serving in the role of virtual CISO.
In addition to developing enterprise-wide security programs, Sallie has served in several technical education roles for global security industry leaders including as an ISC2 subject matter expert for the CISSP exam development and as a SANS Institute cybersecurity facilitator. Lastly, Sallie has facilitated regional third-party security education delivery of the FEMA Cyberterrorism Defense Initiative to public and private stakeholders.
In addition to her family, friends and her dog Linux, Sallie loves reading, oil painting, collecting and restoring mid century modern furniture, and walking miles to her favorite audiobooks.
